Five people died on Christmas Day in a tragic road accident along the Kericho-Nakuru highway when a Toyota Probox collided with a Mercedes-Benz Actros truck. This incident contributes to a troubling increase in road fatalities during the festive season.

• Five individuals died on the spot, with two others critically injured and transported to Kericho County Hospital.
• The accident occurred at approximately 5 AM near Kedowa Trading Centre, Kericho County, on December 25.
• According to police commander James Nyatich, the Probox was suspected of overspeeding, carrying six young men believed to be from the same family and returning from holiday celebrations.
• The incident brings the total number of road fatalities in 72 hours to 36, as reported by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
• Between December 20 and December 25, 2025, the NTSA identified 1,702 violations and arrested 42 drivers for non-compliance.
