Former Jubilee vice chairperson David Murathe has credited the late Cyrus Jirongo with playing a crucial role in Uhuru Kenyatta’s rise to the presidency, according to statements made during Jirongo’s requiem mass.

• Murathe stated that Jirongo persistently pressured former President Daniel Arap Moi to declare Kenyatta as his successor.
• Jirongo was portrayed as a visionary political strategist and a "big thinker" pursuing multi-billion dollar development deals in countries like Uganda and Libya.
• Jirongo will be laid to rest in Lumakanda, Kakamega county, with political leaders and supporters expected to attend.
