The Nairobi County Government has extended its public garbage bin rollout to residential estates, aiming to combat littering beyond the Central Business District (CBD). This initiative follows successful installations in the CBD and marks a new phase in the county's waste management strategy.

• Kilimani, Kileleshwa, and Lavington are among the first residential estates to receive the new bins.
• Governor Johnson Sakaja stated, "These are not just bins. They are a statement about the Nairobi we are building—one that values order, hygiene and modernity."
• The county also hired more than 3,500 ‘Green Army’ environmental workers in August, the largest intake since 1987.
