Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the main suspect linked to the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in Ang'ata Barrikoi, Trans Mara South, on August 13, 2025. The suspect was apprehended on December 31, 2025, in Lolgorian after a prolonged manhunt and forensic investigation.

• The victim was shot twice in the head at close range by a gang of about eight armed men.
• The suspect was arraigned at Kilgoris Law Courts but could not raise the Ksh 100,000 cash bail and is remanded at Lolgorian Police Station.
• The incident is part of escalating land ownership disputes in Trans Mara that have caused significant violence in 2025, including the torching of over 30 houses on December 16, 2025, and a government-imposed dusk-to-dawn curfew after at least seven people died and over 120 houses were razed.
