NACADA has fully endorsed President William Ruto’s intensified commitment to combating alcohol and substance abuse, signaling a more coordinated national response. This comes as a specialized DCI unit is set to launch in 2026 to spearhead enforcement efforts.

• NACADA Board Chairperson Bishop Stephen Mairori affirmed the Authority’s full support for the government’s resolve due to the adverse effects of substance abuse on public health, national security, productivity, and social cohesion.
• A 700-member specialized Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) unit is planned for rollout in 2026 to dismante supply networks and target organized criminal syndicates.
• President Ruto has also vowed to pursue asset forfeiture against individuals and cartels profiting from the illegal alcohol and drug trade, emphasizing it as a major threat to Kenya’s social fabric and economic development.
