The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has confirmed the recovery of the body of tour guide Samuel Macharia Wanjohi, who went missing on Mount Kenya nearly three weeks ago. His body was found on January 9, after an extensive search operation on the mountain.

• Samuel Macharia Wanjohi was reported missing on December 23, 2025, while trekking along the Sirimon–Shipton route.
• The body was located off the Sirimon–Shipton route within Mount Kenya National Park at an altitude of approximately 4,300 metres in Hinde Valley.
• The KWS Mountain Search and Rescue Unit, alongside other agencies, conducted a multi-agency search in challenging conditions.
