The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a 14-day ultimatum for the removal of all roadside developments along Mombasa Road, from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to James Gichuru Junction, to pave the way for expansion and beautification works.

• The directive, dated January 13, 2026, targets billboards, nursery beds, and temporary structures along the 27-kilometre stretch.
• The project aims for capacity enhancement, landscaping, and beautification, with KeNHA having recently handed over renovation works to China Road and Bridge Cooperation (CRBC).
• Failure to comply will result in structures being removed without owner permission, as the multi-million shilling project also includes infrastructure and safety upgrades set to improve the highway's visual appeal and environmental sustainability.
