Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku has ordered urgent fire risk sensitisation forums following a surge in fires across Nairobi and surrounding areas. This directive comes as he led a government team in delivering aid to families affected by a recent blaze in Kitui village, Kamukunji.

• CS Ruku noted that over 150 households were displaced by a fire in Kitui Village, Pumwani Ward, which destroyed three rows of houses on a Sunday night.
• The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the disproportionate impact on women and children, a concern deeply felt by President William Ruto.
• A high-level stakeholders’ forum is planned to develop a coordinated fire prevention, preparedness, and response strategy involving county and national agencies, emergency responders, and community leaders.
