China has unveiled comprehensive measures to transform its burgeoning aging population into a dynamic economic force, focusing on improving the well-being of over 310 million citizens aged 60 and above. This initiative, dubbed the "silver economy," aims to boost consumption, empower businesses, and integrate advanced technology into elderly care.

• The policy, “Several Measures on Cultivating Elderly Care Business Entities and Promoting Silver Economy,” was introduced by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, alongside the ministries of commerce, and industry and information technology.
• Li Banghua, director of the elderly care service department at the Ministry of Civil Affairs, emphasized that developing the silver economy is crucial for addressing population aging challenges and creating new economic growth opportunities.
• Measures include encouraging chain operations for home elderly care, optimizing e-commerce platforms for seniors, expanding age-friendly consumption scenarios, and building senior-friendly shopping streets, with Zhejiang province already developing such initiatives that generated over 100 million yuan ($14.33 million) in personal spending.
