Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina criticized Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi over budget cuts impacting school girls' education and dignity, threatening to prevent future budget approvals lacking specific allocations for sanitary towels. She highlighted that these cuts hinder progress and contribute to absenteeism among girls.

• Maina launched a sanitary towel distribution under her Tupange Kesho empowerment programme, targeting over 200 Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in Kirinyaga County.
• A total of 19,725 girls are set to benefit from 88,900 packets of sanitary towels, equivalent to 1,108 bales, with each girl receiving four packets.
• The lawmaker also disbursed Ksh300,000 to each youth group from Kirinyaga and criticized President William Ruto's administration for allegedly failing the youth, vowing to continue defending young people across all 47 counties.
