A high-speed train collision in southern Spain on Sunday killed at least 21 people and injured dozens more. One train derailed and crashed into an oncoming train, sending the second train down an embankment.

• More than 20 people are confirmed dead, with the possibility of the number rising, and 75 people were hospitalized, 15 in serious condition.
• The accident occurred near Adamuz in the province of Cordoba, about 360 km (223 miles) south of Madrid.
• The Iryo train from Malaga to Madrid derailed, striking a Renfe Alvia train traveling from Madrid to Huelva, which was reportedly traveling at 200 km per hour (124 miles/hour).
• Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente stated the cause is unknown and it's "really strange" for a derailment on a straight section of track that was renewed in May.
• Approximately 400 passengers were on board the two trains, with the first two carriages of the Renfe train bearing the brunt of the impact.
