Metropolitan Hospital in Nairobi, in collaboration with India’s Marengo Asia Hospital, has successfully performed the first robotic-assisted knee replacement surgeries in East and Central Africa. These procedures mark a significant advancement in local specialized medical care.

• The first surgery was conducted in December 2023, and the second in January this year.
• Kanyenje Gakombe, Founder and CEO of Metropolitan Hospital, stated this is the result of more than 30 years of investment in clinical training, infrastructure, and medical technology.
