The High Court has nullified the merger of Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA), declaring it unconstitutional. Justice Bahati Mwamuye ruled that the dissolution process did not meet constitutional requirements, meaning ANC remains a duly registered political party.

The court ruled on Thursday, January 22, invalidating the merger.
The Registrar of Political Parties was ordered to update official records to reflect ANC's continued existence.
All assets of ANC, allegedly transferred to UDA offices, must be returned by February 6, 2025.
The merger was officially announced via a Gazette Notice by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) on March 7, 2025.
