Kenya's Cabinet Secretary Duale announced the disbursement of Sh92.5 billion to 10,272 health facilities under the national health financing framework, aiming to support various healthcare services across the country.
- A total of Sh13 billion was allocated for the Primary Health Care (PHC) programme, with Sh75 billion directed to the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
- The disbursements also included Sh3.5 billion for the Public Officers Medical Scheme and Sh1 billion for the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.
- The payments address concerns from the Rural and Urban Private Hospitals Association of Kenya (RUPHA), who had threatened to stop treating patients due to Sh10.6 billion in unpaid claims from the Social Health Authority (SHA).
