The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) CEO, Agnes Wahome, suggests the C+ university entry grade may be removed with the full transition to the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), aiming to de-emphasize examination scores.

Wahome stated on Tuesday, January 27, that the C+ cut-off is "no longer sustainable" as the education system shifts towards recognizing hands-on skills and alternative pathways.
This comes after many candidates in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations did not achieve the minimum entry grade.
However, Education CS Julius Ogamba dismissed claims of a revised entry grade, insisting the minimum remains Grade C+, with the transition to CBE estimated to take two years.
