Nairobi doctors have suspended their 45-day strike, with members ordered to return to work by Monday, following a ruling from the Employment and Labour Relations Court. The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Nairobi Branch clarified the strike is suspended, not called off, to allow for negotiations.

The strike led to significant disruption at Mbagathi Hospital, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, and Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital.
KMPDU Branch Secretary Dr. Malindi Chao stated that the county government had warned of contempt charges if the court order was not followed.
The union's main grievances include the lack of a working comprehensive health insurance cover for members and unfulfilled promises regarding doctor promotions and payments, threatening to resume the strike in 30 days if demands are not met.
