The Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) has proposed a significant increase in the equitable share of revenue for Kenyan counties for the financial year ending June 30, 2027. If adopted, counties could receive an additional Sh43.9 billion, bringing their total allocation to Sh458.94 billion.
- Counties are recommended to receive Sh458.94 billion, a Sh43.94 billion increase from the current Sh415 billion.
- The CRA also proposes allocating Sh9.60 billion to the Equalisation Fund for 2026/27.
- The increased allocation aims to finance improved service delivery and includes Sh8.94 billion for the transition of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) workers to permanent and pensionable terms.
