A strike by public service vehicle (PSV) operators disrupted Nairobi's transport sector for several hours on Monday morning, stranding hundreds of commuters. The action, which involved blocking major roads, was in protest of alleged insecurity and impoundment of vehicles.

• The strike began during the peak morning rush hour, leading to extensive traffic congestion in the central business district.
• Paul Thiongo, chairperson of Forward Travellers Sacco, stated the protest sought the release of impounded vehicles.
• Albert Karakacha, president of the Matatu Owners Association, claimed over 20 vehicles have been burned nationwide by boda boda operators, causing losses of millions of shillings.
• Police were deployed, impounding several PSV vehicles and towing others away, before transport services gradually resumed later in the morning.
