The Kenya Navy has received Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drones from the Government of Denmark after its officers completed specialized training at the Kenya Naval Training College in Mtongwe, Mombasa. This initiative, part of a long-standing Kenya-Denmark defence cooperation, aims to enhance the Navy's surveillance and operational effectiveness.

• The training was delivered by UPTEKO Drones Company in partnership with the Danish Military.
• Commander Kenya Navy Fleet, Brigadier Mohamed Shemote, officiated the graduation and handover ceremony on Monday, February 2.
• The drones will significantly improve the Kenya Navy’s capabilities in maritime surveillance, search and rescue missions, and force protection operations.
• This development aligns with the Kenya Navy’s broader transformation agenda to integrate modern technology, following a KSh 9.1 billion project with the United States to expand the Kenya Navy Base at Manda Bay, expected to be completed by mid-2027.
