The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has commenced immediate construction of a new 10,000-capacity stadium in Wajir County, an infrastructure project overseen by the Ministry of Defence to enhance sporting facilities.

The stadium will accommodate up to 10,000 spectators and feature a football pitch, an eight-lane running track, changing rooms, VIP lounges, and a borehole for water supply.
Principal Secretary, Department of Defence, Patrick Mariru, confirmed the project after discussions with Wajir Governor H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi.
The KDF has a history of such projects, including the KDF stadium in Kisumu and the planned upgrade of Thika Stadium in Kiambu County, which began preparations in December 2025 following a directive by President William Ruto.
