The World Bank has clarified its support for Kenya's National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme, emphasizing its focus on addressing the country's severe unemployment challenges. County Director Qimiao Fan stated the initiative is crucial for job creation in Kenya.

The World Bank is providing approximately Ksh29.5 billion for the five-year NYOTA programme.
Qimiao Fan, World Bank County Director for Kenya, highlighted that employment generation is the body's primary focus in Kenya.
The project, launched in Malindi, Kilifi County, includes paid on-the-job training, entrepreneurship support, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certification.
Disbursement of funds has begun in eight counties, with beneficiaries in Mombasa, Kwale, and Taita Taveta receiving funds on Friday, February 6, and those in Wajir County and Garissa County on Wednesday, February 11, and Thursday, February 12, respectively.
