While recognizing AI's potential to create new opportunities, the State is advocating for a "just transition," urging businesses to adopt AI ethically and address potential economic disparities, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
- Secretary for Skills Development at the State Department of Labour and Skills Development Dr. Wanjiru Kariuki highlighted the risk of job displacement for routine tasks.
- The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), in partnership with Microsoft, launched the AI Xcelerate project to train business leaders on AI adoption.
- FKE Executive Director and Chief Executive Jacqueline Mugo noted that investing KSh 130 ($1) in AI systems could yield returns of KSh 400 ($3.50).
