Advocate Steve Ogola testified in the corruption case against former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, stating that no public funds were lost, which significantly strengthens the defence's position. This statement contradicts the initial premise of the case, leading the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to drop charges against Ogola's client, Danson Muchemi.

• Ogola, representing JamboPay and WebTribe founder Danson Muchemi, stated that both the original and amended charge sheets were legally defective because they failed to establish any loss of public money.
• Sonko, who appeared as the 21st defence witness, denied all allegations of conflict of interest and irregular procurement, claiming the JamboPay contract was a legacy arrangement.
• The case, which began with charges in January 2020, was remitted for a fresh determination after an appeal and is currently ongoing, with Sonko placed on defence in January 2025.
