The High Court has declared urgent a petition demanding the Kenyan government establish a comprehensive National Artificial Intelligence Policy Framework. Three petitioners argue the delay by the Ministry of ICT in enacting such a framework violates constitutional rights.

• The court declined interim relief to restrain the deployment of "high-risk artificial intelligence systems" at the ex parte stage.
• The petitioners highlighted that the absence of an AI framework creates threats to numerous fundamental rights, including privacy, equality, and fair administrative action.
• The court directed that the application be served to the Ministry of ICT, the Attorney General, and Parliament, with the hearing scheduled for February 19.
