Former Mwea MP Peter Gitau and four other suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of two Isuzu lorries in Murang’a County, Kenya. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operation Support Unit (OSU) recovered the vehicles in Mombasa County.

• The two stolen vehicles, an Isuzu FVZ (KDQ 845T) and an Isuzu FRR (KDL 078W), were taken from Gatanga on August 16, 2025.
• The masterminds arrested are Peter Gitau, Mark Kinyua, Erick Chege, David Kigo, and Joseph Ndung’u Waweru.
• The stolen lorries were found with counterfeit registration plates: Isuzu FVZ (KDQ 845T) had a fake plate KDV 449C, and Isuzu FRR (KDL 078W) had KCA 505D.
• This arrest comes weeks after a Murang’a court released Gitau on a Sh500,000 cash bail in a similar case on January 21, citing violation of constitutional rights due to prolonged detention without formal charges.
