The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has filed a lawsuit to recover Sh330 million allegedly lost in an irregular stadium security contract for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The commission accuses several individuals and firms of facilitating procurement fraud.
The EACC is seeking to recover Sh330,573,997, an advance payment made for a Sh1.5 billion contract awarded to Auditel Kenya.
Key individuals named in the suit include former Principal Secretary for Sports Development Amb Peter Kirimi Kaberia and former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa.
Investigations revealed the contract was single-sourced without proper tender documents, and no security systems were installed in the CHAN 2018 stadiums, with some funds traced to local companies and individuals.
