Kenyan governors have accused four senators on the Senate County Public Accounts and Investment Committee (CPAIC) of extortion, alleging demands of bribes up to Sh9 million for favorable treatment during hearings. The Council of Governors (CoG) has unanimously resolved to suspend all appearances before the CPAIC due to this alleged harassment and intends to present evidence to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

• CoG chairman Ahmed Abdulahi stated that governors have evidence of extortion and will table it before the Senate Speaker, refraining from naming the senators publicly for now to allow for negotiations.
• The governors are demanding a change in the CPAIC leadership, stating they will not appear before the committee until the "notorious" senators are replaced, asserting the committee has become a "circus" used for "politics and robbery with violence."
