The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has officially announced new contribution rates for 2026, effective from February, following the phased rollout of the NSSF Act. These changes will impact payrolls for employers and employees across Kenya, with a significant increase in deductions.
- The maximum monthly NSSF contribution per employee will now reach Ksh12,960.
- For Tier 1 contributions, up to Ksh9,000 earnings, both employees and employers contribute 6 per cent each, totaling Ksh1,080 per employee.
- For Tier 2 contributions, on salaries up to Ksh108,000, employees and employers will each pay Ksh5,940, totaling Ksh11,880.
- Employers are mandated to submit remittances by the 9th day of the following month, starting in March.
- The NSSF also announced a 17 per cent net interest for members’ savings for the 2024/2025 financial year.
