The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced temporary lane closures on the A8 Road between Rironi and James Gichuru Road Junction from Friday, February 20, through Saturday, April 4, 2026, to facilitate surface dressing works.
- The closures are for "surface dressing works along the James Gichuru Junction–Rironi Highway section" and will be carried out in phases.
- KeNHA urged motorists to follow designated diversion routes and directions from traffic police officers and marshals to ensure safety and smooth flow.
- The A8 corridor is a vital link connecting Nairobi to the Rift Valley and western Kenya, with slowdowns expected, especially during peak hours.
- Separately, the Outdoor Advertising Association of Kenya (OAAK) secured a court order preventing KeNHA from removing billboards between James Gichuru Roundabout and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
