Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has directly blamed politicians, particularly Members of Parliament, and the Judiciary for the proliferation of gangs and goons in Kenya, citing intelligence reports indicating that lawmakers own and finance these criminal groups. He revealed that DCI is consolidating evidence against involved individuals.

Murkomen stated that some MPs even issue press statements when their gangs are overpowered by rivals, and subsequently bail out arrested gang members or demand the transfer of police officers who apprehend them.
He warned MPs that these gangs, regardless of their political affiliation, will eventually target them.
The CS criticized sections of the Judiciary for granting anticipatory bail to suspects, which he believes hinders the fight against organized crime, and suggested some magistrates collaborate with these groups.
