The United States has sanctioned three senior commanders of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over alleged atrocities, primarily in El Fasher, amid the country's ongoing civil war. This action follows Kenyan President William Ruto's recent public plea to President Donald Trump for intervention in the Sudanese crisis.

• The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned the three commanders on Thursday, February 19, freezing their assets and blocking their access to the U.S.
• The Trump administration accused the RSF of "ethnic killings, torture, starvation tactics, and widespread sexual violence" during the 18-month conflict that began in April 2023.
• The conflict has resulted in over 150,000 deaths and displaced more than 14 million people, establishing one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises.
