The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for large parts of Kenya, forecasting potential flooding from Saturday, February 21, to Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The advisory covers 13 counties initially, with rain expected to spread, impacting regions including the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and Highlands, and later the southeastern lowlands and coastal region.
- Rainfall in affected areas could exceed 20 millimetres (0.79 inches) within 24 hours on Saturday, intensifying to more than 30 millimetres (1.18 inches) daily from Sunday through Tuesday.
