The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacist and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has issued a seven-day strike notice in Mombasa County following the suspension of Iqbal Khandwalla, the CEO of Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital.

• All doctors in Mombasa will down their tools, with only emergency services continuing.
• The strike is in response to the suspension of the CEO by the county government, which the union claims is politically motivated and lacks proper deliberation.
• The KMPDU also alleges that tribal and demeaning remarks were made against the CEO, creating a hostile work environment.
