The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has banned mobile phones in polling stations for the upcoming by-elections on February 26 to prevent voters from photographing marked ballots.

• The ban aims to uphold the constitutional principles of free and fair elections and protect voters from undue influence and vote-buying.
• Only authorized agents will be permitted to take photographs of original results forms for transparency.
• The by-elections will fill vacant seats in Isiolo South Constituency, and the Muminji and Evurore wards in Embu County, and the West Kabras Ward in Kakamega County.
• Two uniformed police officers will be deployed to each polling station, with additional personnel at tallying centres for enhanced security.
