A self-styled Bungoma ‘pastor’, Nahashon Atela Ochieng, and his associate, Emmanuel Reagan Maloba, were arrested with a live forest cobra reportedly intended for ritual use.

• The suspects were intercepted on a motorcycle in Kanduyi Sub-Location, Bungoma.
• Police recovered a live forest cobra, approximately 2.5 metres long.
• Ochieng claimed a spiritual vision led him to the snake for a ritual burning at a church in Bukembe.
• The suspects are in police custody and will face charges under the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act.
