A man suspected of being a key player in trafficking Kenyans to Russia for work has been arraigned in court. Festus Arasa Omwamba faces multiple trafficking charges, accused of facilitating the movement of 25 Kenyan nationals to Russia between December 1, 2024 and September 24, 2025.

• More than 1,000 Kenyans are believed to have been recruited to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war, with 89 currently on the front lines.
• Festus Arasa Omwamba was arrested by detectives from Moyale Police Station.
• The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that Omwamba is believed to be part of a larger syndicate exploiting vulnerable individuals with false job offers.
