Doctors in Trans Nzoia have suspended a planned strike after reaching an agreement with the county government concerning promotions, employment terms, and medical insurance cover.

• An agreement was reached following a strike notice issued by the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) on February 4, 2026.
• The deal includes the promotion of 22 doctors from Job Group N to P by March 17, 2026, and the conversion of 12 contract doctors to Permanent and Pensionable employment by March 31, 2026.
• The agreement was negotiated between the KMPDU, represented by Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah, and the Trans Nzoia County government led by Governor George Natembeya.
