The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a warning that heavy rains will continue across several parts of Kenya through the weekend and into early next week, increasing the risk of floods, landslides, and water contamination.

• At least 23 people have reportedly died in Nairobi due to severe flooding.
• The KMD predicts continued moderate to heavy rainfall, with isolated storms reaching 40mm to 100 mm in some areas.
• Affected regions include counties within the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Central Highlands, Nairobi, the Southeastern Lowlands, and coastal areas.
