KCB Group announced a profit after tax of KES 68.4 billion for the financial year ended 2025, driven by a strong surge in digital transactions which now handle 99% of all transactions. Safaricom implemented a privacy enhancement for M-PESA, masking sender phone numbers in person-to-person money transfers to protect user identity. Separately, Safaricom now requires a Police OB report and a physical shop visit to provide users with an unredacted M-PESA statement, citing compliance with the Data Protection Act.
