Kenya has urged for immediate global collaboration to combat the escalating drug trade, highlighting the growing sophistication of trafficking networks and the emergence of new substances.

• Key concerns include the exploitation of modern technologies and pharmaceutical misuse by drug barons.
• The appeal was made at the 69th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) in Vienna by Stephen Mairori, Head of Delegation and Board Chair of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
• Kenya also welcomed the appointment of Monica Juma as Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
