Businessman Irungu Nyakera has obtained 'status quo' orders from the Business Premises Rent Tribunal concerning the disputed Fairways Hotel in Kisumu.

• The tribunal orders, issued on March 11, mandate the maintenance of the current situation at the hotel pending a hearing.
• The dispute involves Nyakera-linked Fairways Hospitality Kisumu Limited and the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA), which claims over Sh25.9 million in rent arrears.
• This latest development follows an escalating confrontation at the hotel and an earlier declaration by LBDA labelling the hotel a "chronic defaulter".
