President William Ruto has nominated Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u as Kenya's candidate for the upcoming election of International Criminal Court (ICC) judges in December.

• Ndung'u, a Supreme Court Judge since 2011, will compete with international candidates for a seat at the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands.
• She previously served as a Member of Parliament from 2003 to 2007.
• Her potential exit from Kenya's apex court comes as the Judiciary Service Commission is also seeking to fill another vacant position on the Supreme Court bench following the death of Justice Mohamed Ibrahim.
