The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) is demanding clarity following the arrest of a veteran Nairobi-based doctor, Dr. Job Obwaka, aged 83.

• Dr. Job Obwaka, an obstetrician and gynaecologist, was arrested on Friday at the NSSF Building.
• The KMPDU questions the basis of the arrest, stating the alleged offence of falsifying a register of members falls under the Company Secretary's mandate and that Dr. Obwaka was allegedly not present during the irregularities.
• The union is also concerned that authorities reportedly denied the doctor cash bail for an offence it claims is bailable under Kenyan law.
