The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall expected to intensify across several parts of the country from March 19, potentially triggering floods and flash floods until March 24, 2026.

• Heavy rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres within 24 hours is predicted, with the heaviest showers anticipated between March 20 and March 23.
• The advisory urges residents in affected regions like the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, to remain alert.
• Residents in landslide-prone areas, particularly near the Aberdare Ranges and Mount Kenya, are advised to be vigilant, and motorists and pedestrians are warned against crossing flooded sections.
