A senior Kenyan police officer has begun a 250-kilometer peace walk from Nyamira to Kakamega to foster better relations between the public and law enforcement and promote accountability within the National Police Service (NPS).

• The walk is officially approved by the NPS and titled 'Steps of Hope Beyond the Badge'.
• The central figure is Chief Inspector of Police Ignatius Wendo, who is undertaking the entire journey on foot.
• Key objectives include civic education on police and citizen responsibilities, promoting accountability, and strengthening the relationship between communities and law enforcers, with community engagement forums planned at each stop.
