Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko claims he orchestrated the arrest of Elvis Opiyo, the suspect in the acid attack on gospel singer Mary Claire, by tricking him into returning to Nairobi.

• Elvis Opiyo, allegedly an officer with the National Intelligence Service (NIS), was arrested on March 22nd.
• The victim, Mary Claire, suffered severe injuries after being doused with acid on March 17th near Prestige Plaza on Ngong Road.
• Sonko has pledged to cover Claire's legal fees and hospital bills, assuring her that Opiyo is not above the law.
