Mombasa slums are set to undergo a significant facelift through the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP), a partnership with the World Bank, aiming to improve living conditions and provide basic services.

The project targets seven informal settlements, including Majaoni, Chaani, Msufini, Likoni 203, Kibundani, Kidunguni, and Kisumu Ndogo.
Key initiatives include improving drainage, enhancing land tenure security with title deeds, installing high-mast lights, building social halls, and establishing Early Childhood Development centres.
The Mombasa County administration, under Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, is also addressing historical land disputes and aims to issue up to 30,000 titles by 2027.
