The National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) has urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to formally submit proposals to Parliament if it seeks prosecutorial powers to enhance the fight against corruption.

• The call comes as ongoing debates around expanding the EACC's mandate continue, with the agency previously disagreeing with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on case evidence sufficiency.
• Key stakeholders from across the justice sector, including the Judiciary and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, gathered in Nakuru for a Justice Sector Dialogue convened by the EACC.
• Discussions also prioritized strengthening whistleblower protection, utilizing Alternative Dispute Resolution for asset recovery, and ensuring recovered assets directly benefit the public.
