The United Nations has appointed former Haiti Prime Minister Garry Conille as the new United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kenya, officially taking office on Wednesday, April 1. He succeeds Dr. Stephen Jackson.

• Garry Conille brings over two decades of experience in international development and humanitarian affairs, previously serving as Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at UNICEF.
• Conille has prior experience as a United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jamaica and Burundi.
• He previously served as Prime Minister of Haiti twice, most recently in May-November 2024, a period marked by security and governance crises, during which Kenya deployed police to assist.
