The National Police Service and the Kenya Prisons Service are now integrated into the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund, managed by the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Officers will have access to approximately 6,000 healthcare facilities nationwide, including public, private, and faith-based institutions.
This transition, effective 12:00 a.m. on April 1, 2026, ensures continuity of care for those currently undergoing treatment, with arrangements to facilitate transfers to SHA-contracted facilities if needed.
The integration aims to streamline medical benefits and ensure sustainable healthcare access for civil servants through pooled risk management, overseen by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
